Each year we take on several exceptional graduate students or young professionals to support them in the development of their practice. These individuals gain access to School of Critical Design talks, courses, and resources over the year, and work closely with our founders and fellows to further develop their work, thinking, and career planning.
At the School of Critical Design we are committed to helping create the next generation of thinkers and builders, and dedicate a portion of our time and resources each year to support the leaders of tomorrow.
We are now seeking 3 new students or teams to join our studentship for 2022.
Candidates should be in further education or in the early stages of their practice.
We value interdisciplinary practice, so you can come from any focus discipline or sector that is concerned with strategic and critical thinking and exploring new ways in the world. You might be a budding economist, urbanist, cultural anthropologist, educator, software developer, biologist, designer, artist or something other!
We are particularly keen to find candidates who are not typically represented or served by industry networks e.g you might be the first person in your family or community to practice in your field; you might not be able to afford to take an internship; you might not feel included in your sector. We are hopeful that candidates from all over the world will reach out.
We run the programme in English (with some support in Castellano/ Spanish) so it’s important you feel comfortable communicating in English.
We hope this additional support with radically accelerate your work over the coming year.
You'll receive...
Monthly group and individual coaching sessions with School of Critical Design folks working in service design, critical art, design research, cultural analysis and trends and strategy as well as applied speculative design.
A free place on one of our professional courses in 2022.
A platform to present a project at our community events and through our social channels.
Lifelong alumni status with access to our Slack channel and the supportive environment that fosters.

(1)A response to the prompt: What is critical in your practice? This can take the form of a short essay, a short film or podcast or a visual media piece.
